The Department of Transportation and FAA will select at least 25 leaders to serve on the committee and its members will range from business leaders to aviation specialists and experts. We need your help to spread the word and encourage individuals to apply.

In honor of the women in aviation history, the FAA is proud to establish the Bessie Coleman Women in Aviation Advisory committee to promote the recruitment, retention, employment, education, training, career advancement, and well-being of women in the aviation industry and aviation-focused Federal civil service positions. The work of the committee will help continue the legacy of innovators, like Bessie Coleman, who revolutionized their disciplines within aviation.

Members of the committee will utilize their experiences and talents to develop innovative recommendations. Our success comes from encouraging a diverse collection of voices to contribute to the conversation.

Join the groundbreaking movement to address the needs and opportunities in aviation, as well as help drive positive change in the industry. Those selected for membership will be able to collaborate with aviation experts, as well as maximize their unique experiences and creative approaches to advance the committee’s goals. The committee will meet at least twice a year to develop actionable plans and recommendations to attract and retain more women into aviation careers.

This is a valuable opportunity to help shape the future of women and girls in the aviation industry.
