Electrical Estimator
We are looking to hire an experienced electrical estimator to determine the approximate costs of various electrical installations for commercial and industrial projects. The electrical estimator will prepare cost estimates for electrical projects, analyzing blueprints and specifications, and collaborating with management to ensure accurate competitive bids. This includes determining scope of work, materials, and labor for electrical installations and may assist in value engineering discussions. They should also be able to identify ways to continually improve cost-estimating procedures to reduce inconsistencies between estimated and actual project

Electrical Estimator Responsibilities:
· Analyzing blueprints, specifications and other project documents to accurately determine the cost of our scope of work.
· Prepare detailed cost estimates using estimating software.
· Perform quantity take offs to accurately measure and list all electrical components and materials needed for project.
· Solicit pricing from vendors and subcontractors that ensure cost-effective pricing.
· Determining the amount, type, and cost of materials and fixtures needed for each electrical project.
· Determining the amount of labor required to complete each project.
· Determining the potential profitability of electrical projects to assist management in making sound bidding decisions.
· Providing viable solutions to increase project profitability.
· Completing and submitting competitive project bids in accordance with established guidelines.
· Regularly updating cost databases to accurately reflect fluctuating material and labor costs.
· Participate in value engineering cost saving measures and alternative solutions without compromising the quality of performance of electrical systems.
· Visit project sites to get firsthand knowledge of project requirements which allows for more accurate assessment of the scope of work.

Electrical Estimator Requirements:
· Completion of a postsecondary education electrician training program and/or degree specializing in Electrical Power Design.
· Valid electrician’s license and/or degree specializing in Electrical Power Design.
· Proven experience in construction estimating, specifically in the electrical sector.
· The ability to interpret blueprints.
· Ability to work with estimating software.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Strong knowledge of cost control methods and negotiation techniques.
· Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
· Effective communication skills both verbal and written.
· Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
· Exceptional customer service skills.
· Detail-oriented.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year

Responsibilities

This position is based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, so we will not be considering remote candidates at this time.

  • Travel up to 50% of the time for field-related activities, sometimes for multi-week assignments
  • Support multi-disciplinary projects involving permitting, site remediation, and contamination characterization
  • Implement field investigations (soil, groundwater, surface water) 
  • Collect environmental samples and/or use field instruments to monitor environmental conditions (groundwater, stormwater, surface water, soil vapor, landfill gas, soil/sediment, and air)
  • Document, manage, and analyze environmental data to develop graphical summaries and reports using Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Prepare technical reports, permit applications, engineering plans, and specifications under the direction of a project manager 
  • Develop and ensure compliance with health and safety requirements for fieldwork
  • Oversee work performed by subcontractors, to ensure work is completed following work plans, design drawings, specifications, and/or client expectations

 

Required Qualifications

Selected candidates will be required to provide transcripts and writing samples.

  • BS in Civil, Environmental, or Geological Engineering
  • Strong organizational and planning skills and ability to ensure routine tasks are completed on schedule
  • Capable of providing thorough and accurate records of field activities using forms and logs
  • Ability to produce clear and accurate engineering design calculations
  • Strong technical writing capabilities
  • Self-starter, detail oriented, and able to produce top quality deliverables
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in working both independently and in project teams
  • Willing and able to safely drive and/or travel to project sites for multiple weeks using company or rental vehicles
  • EIT certification or the ability to achieve certification within 12 months of hire

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, or Geological Engineering
  • Previous experience with Land Surveying, Hydrological Modeling, and AutoCAD/GIS in support of engineering design work
  • Familiarity with soil classifications and experience field logging soil characteristics (e.g. in support of geotechnical drilling)
  • Previous experience with construction oversight and implementing construction quality assurance programs
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience with maintaining and troubleshooting mechanical systems (field equipment and instruments, pumps, blowers, etc.)
  • Experience with data evaluation and technical report preparation
  • Desire to pursue licensure as a New Mexico professional engineer
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and current refresher training

PHD and Master's Programs in Economics

The Center for Economic Research and Graduate Education (CERGE-EI) located in Prague, Czech Republic, invites students to the 2nd application round for the Master in Economic Research and PhD in Economics. The application deadline is August 23, 2025.

Master in Economic Research is a 2-year full-time program that combines courses in economics, data science, and public policy. The curriculum provides students with useful and readily applicable knowledge of how the economy works, equipping them with both hard skills (e.g., Python and R coding) and soft skills (e.g., professional writing and presentation). The aim of this program is to prepare students for careers in analytical teams at government organizations, as data scientists in NGOs, and in consulting firms. Graduates receive a Czech degree fully accredited by Charles University.

PhD in Economics is a Western-style program tailored for outstanding students interested in economic research who desire a rigorous graduate education in Economics at a prestigious international institution. It comprises two years of MA-level coursework followed by two or more years of dissertation research. All students receive a monthly living stipend of CZK 25,000, and there is also the possibility of an excellence scholarship of up to CZK 10,000 based on academic performance. Graduates receive both U.S. and Czech doctoral degrees.

Volunteering Opportunities

Climate Research at Valles Caldera National Preserve

The National Park Service is currently seeking a Climate Research Volunteer to develop and share information on how climate affects the Valles Caldera and the Jemez Mountains. This role combines both in-person and remote work, supporting ranger and volunteer education efforts. This opportunity provides hands-on experience in climate research while contributing to the preservation and understanding of a unique natural landscape.
