Bangladeshi (Bengali) culture is thousands of years old and has its roots in the ancient Indic civilization. We, Bangladeshi Student Association, will bring together students who share an interest in Bangladeshi culture and heritage, and provide them with opportunities to learn, experience, and celebrate this rich cultural legacy. The association aims to foster a sense of community and belonging among its members, promote awareness and understanding of Bengali culture among the wider student population, and provide a platform for cultural exchange and networking. The association also aims to support the academic and personal growth of its members, and encourage their involvement in cultural and community events. Ultimately, the Bengali Student Association strives to celebrate and preserve the unique traditions and heritage of Bengali culture for future generations.

Our mission is to foster entrepreneurship and innovation throughout the NMT campus via the university’s Science, Technology, Engineering, Entrepreneurship, and Mathematics (STE²M) initiative.

Group members can find information about the Office of Innovation Commercialization (OIC). The OIC is devoted to helping protect the intellectual property (i.e. patents, trademarks, etc.) NMT students, faculty, and staff that create inventions on campus, and to help commercialize these technologies.

Additionally, group members will be notified of events that OIC hosts, including our annual Inventors & Entrepreneurs Workshop (held yearly in Spring). The Inventors & Entrepreneurs Workshop is an Immersive Workshop for Inventors, Investors, and Entrepreneurs: How to Turn Ideas Into Successful Start-ups.

Socorro Search and Rescue (SSAR) is a volunteer search and rescue team based in Socorro, NM. Team members consist primarily of New Mexico Intitute of Mining and Technology Students. SSAR is a member team of the New Mexico Search and Rescue Council (NMSARC).

Members will respond 24 hours a day in all weather conditions to provide primary Search and Rescue (SAR) capabilities to New Mexico State Police District 11 (Socorro, Catron, and Sierra Counties), as well as throughout the entire state as needed. Because of the importance of this task, our members are required to attend team-sponsored training sessions and are further encouraged to attend state sponsored trainings.

Members are asked to supply their own basic backpacking equipment, although the team can help those with financial need. The team additionally maintains a cache of more specialized rescue and first aid equipment including stokes litters, first aid supplies, and communications equipment.

We rely solely on volunteers from the community and we are always looking for individuals who are up to the challenges and rewards that SAR has to offer. If you have the courage to make a difference, come join our team!

Meetings are currently held on the first Tuesday of every month at 7 pm from September through May and trainings are held several times each year. These meetings and trainings are Open Invitation to prospective members and interested members of the community. More information on upcoming events can be found by clicking events tab.

We facilitate our campus's improvement by communicating student concerns to the administration. We also host many events for student enjoyment, including the 49ers and Spring Fling weekends. Additionally, we help fund on-campus student organizations like Taco Club, IEEE, Tea Club, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and Physics Club. The SGA is always open to suggestions and encourages students to come forward about any issues. Questions and concerns can be directed to the SGA President or Vice President
